Hotel

The Schulhaus Hotel

Until 2012, this building on Westfalendamm in Schwelm was a place of learning, laughter, and reading. In a multi-month renovation phase in 2017/2018, the former elementary school was converted into a hotel, creating 35 inviting guest rooms. Contemporary in design with natural oak parquet flooring, comfortable seating areas, and spacious bathrooms, it's no longer a place for lessons but for relaxed living.

The exterior facade with its typical slate shingles, the representative bay window, and the Bergisch-green gutters were restored and preserved. The preservation authorities had their say, ensuring that all the beauty remained intact. A real asset to the hotel and to Schwelm.

Öffentlicher Raum – Sitzlounge

Our "Pausenhof"

From the spacious reception, the path leads towards the gymnasium to the tasteful lobby, furnished with modern wingback chairs and cozy sofas. Past the meeting rooms, the space opens up through the expansive windows to a park and the old town of Schwelm.

The Drinking Fountains

Fresh drinking water from Schwelm in the schoolhouse. At the historic drinking fountains on the 1st and 2nd floors, guests can pour their 'Grander-revitalized water' into provided carafes.

The Schoolhouse Kiosk

A school kiosk offering beer, wine, and champagne? Here, the Schoolhouse Kiosk, for the sake of the environment, replaces the previously common minibars in the rooms with a selection of fine juices and sodas, selected wines, and beers.
